When you are finding it hard to cope with a particular issue or relationship difficulty, everything can seem out of kilter and you may notice that life in general feels really stressful. Stress affects people differently. Some of the clients I see arrive feeling very anxious and panicky. Others describe feeling listless, lost and unmotivated. Some people develop health problems that don’t seem to go away, despite medical intervention. Many people find themselves repeating behaviours to try and avoid painful feelings.

What is certain is that every person is different and each of us has our own unique ways of being and coping in the world. Psychotherapy can help you shed some light on who you are in your uniqueness, and facilitate insight and understanding about how you are in the world. These understandings can then in time lead to positive change, personal growth and development as a person.

My philosophy of psychotherapy upholds and honours the uniqueness of you as a person and your story. I employ the principle that the relationship between the therapist and the client can facilitate new understandings of oneself. I am currently completing a post grad Diploma in Mindbody Healthcare at AUT so I have an ongoing interest health and illness/ disease.  I believe that unexplained or chronic illness and/or pain at times can be a signal of emotional distress also and that this can be explored and worked through in the psychotherapy setting. I also see a number of mothers and babies and enjoy working pre-and post-natal, including with women and men who have concerns or issues around the whole area of conception and birth and parenting.
